Oklahoma Grape Dumplings

  • 750ml grape juice (traditionally wild possum grape)
  • 150g sugar
  • For the dumplings: 250g flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar, 3 tbsp oil, 120ml grape juice

Method

  1. Bring the grape juice and sugar to a simmer in a wide pot.
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, oil, and grape juice into a soft dough.
  3. Roll the dough thin and cut into strips.
  4. Drop the strips into the simmering grape juice and cook 12-15 min until the dumplings are tender and the juice thickens. 15 min
  5. Serve warm in bowls with the purple syrup.
